Highland householders to be ‘on guard’ against bogus energy traders

The warning follows reports that there may be traders operating in the area offering free insulation works under Government-funded schemes, to properties without the formal approval required to do the works.

Trading Standards teams within Highland Council, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Orkney Islands Council and Shetland Islands Council have all received such reports. more

 

Action Fraud issues warning after bogus traffic wardens steal bank cards

Action Fraud has received 33 reports since January 2019 of victims being targeted by individuals purporting to be police officers and traffic wardens. more

 

Rogue trader jailed for scamming elderly South Cumbrian householder

A rogue roofer and property maintenance trader who is already serving a prison sentence for scamming customers, has had a further two months added to his sentence after making bogus representations and engaging in “aggressive” practices to an elderly South Cumbrian householder. more

Call for vigilance as telephone scams target residents across Cheshire

Police are urging Cheshire residents to be vigilant after a bank in Widnes was notified of seven of its customers having been targeted by telephone scams in a single day. The customers informed NatWest on Widnes Road on the 10th July that they had received phone calls from people purporting to work for the bank. more
